Parting the Fog: The Personal Side of Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Published in Paperback by LaMont Publishing (01 September, 2001)
Author: Sue Jones
Average review score:

I love this book!
For all of you that are suffering with Fibromyalgia and/or CFS, as I am, I recommend this book. It is not only good information for those who are ailing, but for those they live with, or are just very close to. This was the first time in a long time I read a book that I could not put down. What I think is most important is that Sue Jones suffers from the same problems and knows first hand how we all feel. She offers some very good tips on "what not" and "what" to say to us who are not feeling well. Not everyone understands a person with FMS/CFS and if you are serious about learning because of someone you love, or for whatever reason, Read This Book!

Parting the Fog
"Parting the Fog" is a moving and educational story of the tragic, lonely and heroic struggle of someone with Fibromyalgia. This book is fundamental for those who suffer as well as those who are family and friends. It will provide solace and understanding for all who come into contact with this debilitating and misunderstood disease. As a Fibromyalgia sufferer, "Parting the Fog" not only gave me validation for what I am feeling but also the comfort of knowing I am not alone. I highly recommend this book.

Must Have Book
I received "Parting The Fog" in the mail and decided to glance through it before bed. At 2 o'clock in the morning, I finally finished it. I simply could not put it down. Sue Jones understands and writes about every single aspect of having Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue. The reader and fellow sufferer feels so comforted and understood, because it details her daily life and struggle. Everyone with fibromyalgia should have this book and ask their family and friends to read it. It will help them understand, so much better, what it's like to have this disease. It's not that long and is a very easy read. We recommend this book to members at our support group meeting every month, and I highly recommend it to those with fibro and those who love them.

Wonderfully imaginative story
I loved this book as a child and finally have found a copy for my daughter. I would love for today's children to have a chance to read it.

Sweet fantasy
This is my most memorable book as a child. I've looked high and low and finally found a copy through e-bay. When I received it in the mail, I cried. Who would think a children's book could evoke such emotion? This wonderful story of a little girl with an imagination that couldn't quit is so enchanting. However, I rewrote it in my head all these years and had a slightly different version but it still is a sweet picture.

This was my favorite book for several years in grade school.
This is a story of a lonely little girl with a wonderful imagination. She builds her story from other apartment tenants, backyard animal friends, and friends brought to life by her imagination. The author weaves a wonderful modern day fairy princess story. I remember hanging on every word as a child, and look forward to finding another copy of this book to share with my grandchildren in the future.

The Annotated Anne of Green Gables
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (September, 1997)
Authors: Margaret Anne Doody, Mary E. Doody Jones, Wendy E. Barry, Lucy Maud Montgomery, and Mary D. Jones
Average review score:

Annotated Anne a must have for serious Anne collectors.
Everyone who is a serious Anne collector should definitely buy this book. It gives "Anne" a whole new perspective. Untill I read it I had no idea how many biblical and literary allusions L.M. Montgomery had used. I found out wonderful things about the book's background, such as who Montgomery modeled Anne after. I also got the chance to read some of the poems that Anne read or recited. The Annotated Anne is a worthwile investment for people who truly love Anne Shirley.

A must-have for any Anne fan!!
I just received this book for Christmas. I have been an "Anne" fan since I was 10 years old, and my love of all things L.M. Montgomery has only increased as I grew older. This new edition simply amazed me with all its informative footnotes. The best part for me was the inclusion at the back of the book of many of the poems and songs mentioned in the novel but not written out. Three cheers to the editors of this book! You've outdone yourselves!

This book is so complete! It is truly wonderful
This book is a must for all "Anne" fans. Includes a LM Montgomery biography, timeline, pictures from the original and other vintage "Anne" books, as well as references and explanations to the text itself. This even includes lyrics to the songs that are mentioned in the story, as well as the poetry Anne loves. Highly reccommended.

I Promise (Christy and Todd, The College Years, 3)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (June, 2001)
Author: Robin Jones Gunn
Average review score:

Love and Memories
I've been reading the Christy Miller books since I was 13 years old. I love them. Then are unique books. A lot of Christian teen books aren't good because of lack of detail and feeling but, there's something about these books. Robin Jones Gunn is truly a gifted writer. She herself is a peculiar treasure and a true God-lover.
I am now 16 years old and I still read these books. (I would recommend reading the "Sierra Jensen Series" after you read the Christy Miller series.) I went on to read the Sierra Jensen series and then the finally "Christy and Todd: The College Years". All these books are remarkable. Never have I read a book, or series of books that I loved so very much.
Since this is that last book that Mrs. Gunn plans on writing of our beloved "friends" who have become very real in our lives: Christy, Todd, Katie, Doug, Tracey, Rick, Sierra, Randy, Amy, and even Wes, I make a plea to you Mrs. Gunn not to stop writing about these characters you've brought into ourlives, but, if you must, I thank you so much for doing so.(If something is spoken three times it is sealed):Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

the finale
i absolutely love the Christy Miller series. i just read all 15 books of the series over the past 2 weeks or so and i fell in love with them. this book was a good finish to the series and christy and todd finally get married. i just wished that the series would move on because this has to be the best series of books i have ever read. Ms. Gunn has written some of the best books i've ever read. she writes the wonderful relationships that people have with other people and with God. this series is great for teen girls and the characters are so life like that you will actually believe that they are real people. this is the only series i have read that has keep me this attached that i would read 4 of the books in one day. i would recomend this series to anyone that has an interest in reading whether they are christian or not.

A great ending to the Christy series
I couldn't put it down. I hate the thought that this could be the last we see of Todd and Christy! This was a great ending to the series. The last line of the book says what we've been waiting to hear for a long time. I think the second book in this series was my favorite but this one isn't far behind. Now I want a college series about Sierra, especially after what happened to Sierra in this book. If we have another Sierra series, I am sure that we will see Todd and Christy again. Maybe we need a Todd and Christy - the early married years series. Reading this book gives you warm fuzzies in the end. I wanted to add, and they lived happily ever after! If you've never read about Todd and Christy before, start with the orginal Christy series. You'll love them.

If It's Broken, You Can Fix It: Overcoming Dysfunction in the Workplace
Published in Hardcover by AMACOM (January, 1999)
Author: Tom E. Jones
Average review score:

If It's Broken, You Can Fix It
Excellent book for the OD professional and the manager alike. In his usual very effective style, Dr. Jones' "lessons" are very readable, practical, and understandable, with just the right mix of humor, metaphors and stories. His use of actual experiences serve to effectively demonstrate the "real-life" usefulness and value of the techniques he describes. Every organization experiences dysfunction, to one degree or another, and can, therefore, benefit from the guidance Dr. Jones provides in this book.

If It's Broken, You Can Fix it: Overcoming Dysfunction in th
I've had great results consulting organizations, both domestically and throughout Russia and the NIS, utilizing the highly practical advice Tom Jones' book provides. It's facinating, it works and I heartily recommend it!

Outstanding as a College Text
As a college professor I use Dr. Jones' book as one of the required texts for management courses. Students' responses were enthuisastic with end of the term comments such as, "the best book used in the Master's Degree" and "great hands on advice for managers". The emphasis on the dysfunctional nature of organizations provides the reader with realistic insight into the challenges facing most organizations desiring to make positive changes. Dr. Jones' book provides a unique understanding of the personal and professional nature of the problems which grow out of proportion in a dysfunctional organization. More than identifying the stages of the problem, the author provides practical solutions to move organizations to a higher level of effectiveness. All students said, "this is one book that will stay in my library for future reference".

The Lives of Christopher Chant
Published in Hardcover by Greenwillow (April, 2001)
Author: Diana Wynne Jones
Average review score:

A different take on a character
Although Christopher Chant appears in the other books of the Chrestomanci series, this is the deepest look into the character of Christopher, and instead of a breif glimpse, we are given a basis for his actions and his ideas in the preceeding books.

In 'The Lives of Christopher Chant' we start by looking at a different world through the eyes of young Christopher: his strange and distant relationship with his parents, the continual changing of his nursery maids and governesses, and his private trips in his dreams to mysterious places. When his Uncle Ralph appears and treats Christopher differently, more as a capable person than a isolated child, he is ready to idolise him and obey him in any way possible, believing Ralph to be kind, unselfish and caring, when in reality he is quite different. Christopher is asked to go on trips to these other worlds, and does so without question, returning with strange items, not suspecting the trickery behind his actions.

Christopher goes to school, where people begin to suspect about the extrodinary power behind his average facade.

In this book we see aspects of rebellion, friendship, childish hatred, boredom and unhappiness that many children are able to relate to. All this is tied in with adventure, magic, believeable characters and imaginative twists. Another great aspect is the faint idea that not all people classed as 'evil' are so easily catagoried when you compare their actions to the humane areas of their personality.

I loved this story, and felt it to be one of the best books in Diana Wyne Jones's Chrestomanci series. From here you really start to understand the character of Christopher, laying new undercurrents in the other titles. The concepts, language, plot and dimension, as well as the originality, makes it one of the few really brilliant children's books around.

This book was extrodinary, and deserves much more popularity and recognition than it has got.

Fantastic Young Adult Fantasy
Despite his connections with the world of enchantment, Christopher Chant is more interested in cricket that magic. Blessed, or cursed, with nine lives and the ability to travel to spirit worlds in his dreams, Christopher isn't too thrilled to discover that he is destined to become the next Chrestomanci. Quite content with his dream worlds and performing tasks for his Uncle Ralph, Christopher is horrified when he is made to leave school and friends behind and travel to Chrestomanci Castle. Here he will learn the skills necessary for his future role, a role that Christopher definitely does not want. Soon the future Chrestomanci is battling a group of smugglers attempting to steal from the dream worlds....

"The Lives of Christopher Chant" is young adult fantasy at its best. The plot is magical and will keep you reading right up until the end. A little slow to get going, the action soon picks up and never stops. Anyone who likes adventure or fantasy should love this. I can't wait to read the remaining books in the Chrestomanci series.

For those who liked either Witch Week or Charmed Life...
This book describes how Chrestomanci in "Charmed Life" became the wizard he is, for all of the readers who read that book and wondered what happened before.

Christopher Chant, later to be known as Chrestomanci, was born lucky. Instead of the one life that most of us are born with, Christopher Chant was born with nine lives. As if that weren't enough, he also had the ability to travel between worlds and bring things back with him.

This book describes the adventures Christopher has as he travels between worlds and fights a group of smugglers who tricked him into stealing things for them in other worlds. Besides discovering a way to defeat the smugglers, Christopher also has to train for the day that he will become Chrestomanci, the wizard who guards the portals between worlds, since only a wizard of nine lives can hold that position.

Looking for God in All the Wrong Places
Published in Paperback by Paraview Press (March, 2003)
Author: Marie D. Jones
Average review score:

A spiritual self-help guide written with a dash of humor
The effort of writer, video producer, progressive activist, and New Thought minister with a background in metaphysical studies Marie D. Jones, Looking For God In All The Wrong Places, is a spiritual self-help guide written with a dash of humor and a great deal of wisdom concerning the many pitfalls of drugs, alcohol, or unrestrained lust for sex, money, or power that interfere with achieving and maintaining a closeness to God. Offering paths for the faithful to follow in order to focus one's mind and truly open one's heart to God's love, Looking For God In All The Wrong Places is a recommended and astute contemplation for Christian readers.

Thank you for this wonderful gift!
I was first attracted to the book because the title was so tongue-in-cheek. Turned out, so was the book! Looking for and finding God (if you're lucky) can be a heavy task, but in Marie D. Jones' brilliant book, it is treated in more of a light vein. With chapter titles like "Do You Validate?," "Might as Well Face It, You're Addicted to ___________," and "Catechism Cataclysm," I was able to laugh at myself and others as we take many wrong turns in our life's journey. The book led me to People, Places, and Things where I and others have looked for and not found God or Spirit or Peace. When I finally arrived at "Where to Find God," it all seemed so simple, so obvious. Yet so elusive at the same time. It made me remember how important it is to take "time outs" during my hectic days to sit in the silence, rub my cat's belly, take three deep breaths, and know that God is everywhere and God is right here where I am. Thank you Marie, for this wonderful gift!

2 Thumbs and 2 Big Toes Up
Get out today and order this book. You and your God will not be disappointed. Take an essay journey through this Californian's (and ex-Connecticut native)eyes and I promise you and your God will be friends forever.

Blind Love : The True Story of the Texas Cadet Murders

inredible story,incredible book
I*ve been fascinated with this case and watched more of this trial than OJ.I actually feel sorry for Diana and Adrienne*s family. This was the fastest I*ve ever read a book, and I really found out alot about David and Diana .I hope that Mr Meyer does a follow up after the graham trial

Peter Meyer captures the truth in his book Blind Love
Blind Love is factually correct. I have read the books, seen the movie and watched both the Zamora and Graham trials on video tape. Peter Meyer's book puts it all together as best can be presented from all the evidence available.

This is the best book I have EVER read in my life!
I bought this book at a grocerie store just to have something to do when I was bored. I found myself hooked on the book and I finished it in 3 days which is pretty amazing for me(and my mom!). It had great details and it makes you want to follow up on the trial until is over.

Henry Fielding's Tom Jones
Published in Audio Cassette by Bantam Books-Audio (April, 1998)
Author: Henry Fielding
Average review score:

The Story of a Foundling
It was about time I read "Tom Jones." Fielding's 1749 novel gives us a panoramic view of 18th century British life. Its titular hero journeys among the low- and high-born trying to find his way in a world in which he occupies a precarious position. Fielding uses the sprawl of 800 pages to explore a multitude of social, political, and literary issues, gluing them together with an exquisitely outlandish, fully embodied sense of humour.

The action of the novel begins with a view of the Allworthy family, a landed gentleman, Thomas Allworthy and his sister, Bridget. Into this family is dropped an orphan, a foundling - a child, if you will, of questionable parentage. This child, Tom Jones, is raised alongside Bridget's child, Blifil, as relative equals. Both are tutored by two ideologues, the philosopher Square and the theologian Thwackum. Jones is a precocious, free-spirited youngster, spoiled by Allworthy while Blifil, the heir apparent to the estate, becomes the favourite pupil and spoiled accordingly by his mother. As the two youths age, Tom develops a fondness for the neighbour's daughter, Sophia Western.

Tom's sexual development begins to get him in trouble, as it tends to throughout the novel, and as a result of one such incident, coupled with the goading jealousy of Blifil, Tom is driven out of the Allworthy home, left to seek his fortunes in the world. Meeting his supposed father, Partridge, on the road, the two begin a quixotic ramble across England. Sophia, meanwhile, pressured into marrying Blifil, runs away from home, beginning her own voyage of discovery.

"Tom Jones" begins with the narrator likening literature to a meal, in which the paying customer comes expecting to be entertained and satisfied. All 18 books of "Tom Jones" start out with such authorial intrusions, each cluing us into the writer's craft, his interactions with his public, and various other topics. This voice is actually sustained throughout the novel, providing a supposedly impartial centre of moral value judgments - each of which seems to tend toward enforce Fielding's project of a realistic, and yet, didactic portrayal of a world full of flawed characters.

Some of the issues the novel deals most extensively with are modes of exchange, anxieties over female agency, and the power of rumour and reputation. Exchange and the ways in which value is figured include a wide range of goods - money, bodies, food, and stories - and are integral to the story. The treatment of women is a great concern in "Tom Jones": from Partridge's perpetual fear of witchcraft to the raging arguments between Squire Western and his sister over how Sophia should be treated, to general concerns about sexuality and virtue. A novel that can be in turns hilarious, disturbing, and provoking, "Tom Jones" is never dull. Despite its size, the pace of the novel is extremely fast and lively. So, get thee to a superstore and obtain thyself a copy of this excellent and highly entertaining novel.

A long read. . . but well worth it. . .Guffaw your heart out
Journey with a guy with much testosterone, but a HUGE heart. I was not looking forward to reading this book for my 18th Century British novel class, but upon starting to read I found it to be a pleasurable story. This piqaresque novel has a humor that I have seldom encountered in other narratives. What is ironic is that Fielding wrote this piece during one of the most traumatic periods of his life. His wife just passed away, his daughter was dying, and he was inflicted with the gout. One would never think it from the clever way the book is written. The point of view gives us an in so that we feel as if we ourselves have roles in the storyline. Rooting all the way for Tom despite his flaws, we find out more about human nature along the way. A good read, light a candle and sit down with some wine like they would've and enjoy this classic comical delight.

It's not unusual...
Tom Jones is probably one of the greatest novels in all of English literature. I imagine some might be put off by the length and by its designation as a classic (something which Mark Twain said was frequently praised and rarely read). Tom Jones does not deserve to be ignored since it is a riotous rollercoster of a book filled with comic vignettes and blows against the self-satisfied and pompous. It is a book that not only is instructional, but is considerate enough to give the reader a good time while doing so.

Though frequently termed an immoral book, Tom Jones holds up rather well in the early 21st century. Even Fielding's comic characters seem to have a dimension often lacking in 18th and 19th century novels. Fielding is a genius.

The Book For Sound
This is a great book to have for references. Its covers just about everthing from A to Z. Most of all its actually useful information not just a bunch of high tech talk you cant understand. This book is great for the beginner or the pro. Has great stuff on Mic placement and speaker placement. Answers all those questions that you cant figure out on your own. BUY THIS BOOK!!! You wont be sorry.

A SR Student Must-Have
This book is a must have for all students in the sound reinforcement industry. As a high school theatre sound tech, this book has saved me from disaster hundreds of times and allowed my performances to sound great. The discussed topics are clear, complete, and through. The information is very useful to a beginner or a seasoned pro. I see this book as the "bible" of the sound reinforcement industry. A must have!

An excellent and useful book for the beginner.
As a novice in the field of sound reinforcement, I found this book invaluable. It clearly explained the how and why of working with audio equipment, discussed the mysteries of studio equipment specifications, and worked through sample installations and the pros and cons of equipment types. Each chapter held new and useful information, from discussions of the different types of "db"s to the delightful chapter on how to select and solder audio cables. I can't recommend this book too highly.
